Macrobert Arts Centre is thrilled to announce the funding award from Theatres Trust Small Grants Programme supported by The Linbury Trust.
The grant of £5,000 will go towards vital accessibility improvements in Central Scotland’s leading multi-arts centre, making it more inclusive for d/Deaf audiences.
This funding will enable Macrobert to buy screens for the Mainhouse and Playhouse spaces to provide captioning and sound effect descriptions for selected live performances, ensuring that audience members who are deaf or hearing-impaired can still fully enjoy the show. The funding will also allow two screens to be placed outside of Macrobert’s Mainhouse and Playhouse doors to display show information and announcements.
Increasing venue accessibility is one of Macrobert’s top priorities, and this funding will allow the venue to make live experiences much more enjoyable for deaf and hearing-impaired audiences.
Lisa Robertson, Development Manager at Macrobert Arts Centre commented:
“It is estimated that around 35,000 people in Forth Valley are deaf or hearing-impaired. We are so grateful that this funding from Theatres Trust Small Grants Programme supported by The Linbury Trust will enable us to increase accessibility in our venue, ensuring that diverse audiences can enjoy our offering at Macrobert.”
